unconcentrate but do

one hundred magazine collage buttons/pins/magnets

made them as pins/buttons but added magnets because it’s easier to stick something on a fridge than to find somewhere good to pin a whole 2.5” circle.

some are artsy, some are corny, some just fun

it’s been a fun project. it's the perfect use for tiny paper scraps, and a great reason to keep cutting nonsense out of old magazines. i’m not going to admit how many piles of ransom note words/letters i have sitting around

"the obligation to participate is a gift" resonates too embarrassingly hard. came to me from my pile of cut-out words like the planchette on a ouija board

science really does say that btw

no, none of these are actual lyrics, probably

i’ve packaged up a few dozen for gifts, as that was the original intent for many of them (and my original excuse for buying the pin makers and supplies). many were made with specific people in mind!

but... i still struggle to actually give away anything i make.

the fear that i’m obligating someone to pretend they love something they don’t like at all, forcing them to hold onto some piece of trash? it’s really the dumbest of problems to have, as someone who makes things. i’m running out of room to hold onto all these things forever.

but they are one of the most fun and low-stakes projects i can do, so i'm happy to keep making them!
